Come Serve With Us...

For 108 years, the South San Joaquin Irrigation District (SSJID) has provided a reliable and economical source of irrigation water and flood control for the agricultural areas in and around Escalon, Ripon and Manteca. SSJID currently employs 91 individuals and has expanded its operations to provide potable water to the Cities of Manteca, Escalon, Lathrop and Tracy through the Nick C. DeGroot Water Treatment.

The Nick C. DeGroot WTP was the primary component in the South County Water Supply Program. In 2005, this region-wide water supply program was established and has achieved its four goals: (1) to protect and enhance the economic health of the region by providing reliable, safe supplemental water to the cities; (2) to use conserved surface water from SSJID to avoid adverse impacts to current agricultural customers; (3) to meet local needs by keeping adequate water in the region; and (4) to reduce the area's reliance on groundwater.

The Nick C. DeGroot WTP has a 40 MGD capacity and utilizes a submerged membrane filtration system. There are 37 miles of transmission line and 7 remote turnout sites. The South County Water Supply Program provides water to over 225,000 residents. The Nick C. DeGroot Water Treatment Plant is staffed with highly qualified individuals and we are looking for another skilled member to join our team. Together, we are committed to successfully meeting the area's domestic water needs.

As a leader in technology and innovation, SSJID continues to be on the forefront in delivering exceptional customer service while protecting the environment in which we live and work.
