After years of planning and evaluation, the South County Water Supply Program, a cooperative effort of the South San Joaquin Irrigation District and the cities of Manteca, Escalon, Lathrop and Tracy is helping to meet the area’s drinking water needs. The South County Water Supply Program is complete. The treatment plant was dedicated and named the Nick C. DeGroot Water Treatment Plant on July 14, 2005. The treatment plant is providing water to the cities of Manteca, Tracy, and Lathrop. Under Phase 2 of the Water Supply Program, scheduled for completion in 2012, SSJID's treatment plant will begin providing water to Escalon as well.
